The content of this post is in preparation for the upcoming resignation, usually in Q1 of the calendar year. Most salaried employees would have received their AWS (13th-month bonus) and variable bonuses by March of the following year and are prepared to move.
For some, they have accepted job offers but have yet to tender their resignation. They want to receive the bonuses. Most employers would disqualify employees from receiving bonuses should they serve notice before and during bonus payout.
𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐐1
Many employers or HR dept will receive more resignations in Q1 than the rest of the quarters, particularly after the bonus payout and/or annual increment.
More job openings will be available during this time, usually due to resignation and coupled with a new headcount, if applicable. Both employers and job seekers have more choices since there is more
𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬
Some of you may be considering looking for job opportunities. Do consider whether the potential job offers :
✅Career advancement or growth opportunities, not a better job title alone. Is the new job scope more challenging?
✅Better remuneration, in terms of per annum package including higher salary, guaranteed bonus, and non-guaranteed bonus, etc. Better employee benefits?
✅More learning opportunities through sponsored courses or in-house courses?
✅More personal and family time (particularly if traveling is required)?
✅Looking for growth in your new job.....not running away from problems in your current workplace.
𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞
➡️Be professional when serving notice.
➡️Do a proper handover
➡️Report for work on time till your last day of service
➡️Have clear communication with your manager(s) and HR
➡️Be aware of your leave balance and outstanding payment due to you
➡️Keep the bridges intact
