Smart or playing with fire?

Employee A (A) and Employee B (B) were working together in a 4 members team, reporting to the same Head. Their relationship was more than colleagues as they have confidential exchanges, such as job search, etc.
The day came. A tendered her resignation genuinely. B submitted her resignation too, without a job. Both of them had created an ‘emergency’ state in the team by resigning at the same time. 50% of the team would be gone!
The Head spoke to both of them to ‘salvage’ the situation. As A had confirmed her departure, the Head increased B’s salary to retain her and to ‘save’ the team.
B had already foreseen the situation and took a calculated risk to ‘resign’ from the company.
In your view, what do you think of B in this situation? Are you for it or against it?
